PETER FLEMING

ABOUT PETER FLEMING

Peter Fleming is a fictional BBC children’s TV pioneer, whose classic programmes have been wiped from the archives. Now, he’s on a doomed mission to find these lost artefacts of our cultural history.

Peter debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 with Have You Seen? (Best Debut Show – Leicester Comedy Festival). His story continued in lockdown with the Into the Archives podcast, which earned a recommendation from the Sunday Times (‘A daft, well-observed show’). Each episode contains ‘archive’ clips featuring BBC Radiophonic Workshop-inspired music that Burgess makes from his recycling, plus cameos from Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Amy Gledhill, Sooz Kempner (Doctor Who: Doom’s Day), Kath Hughes (After Life) and many more.

In 2022, Peter took a new live show around the UK, Peter Fleming’s Woefully Inaccurate History of the BBC, marking 100 years of the corporation. This was followed by 2023’s 60th Who-niversary extravaganza Peter Fleming Meets Doctor Who! After a Best-Of-tastic fallow year with Mainly Repeats in 2024, Peter shambled back to the stage with Peter Fleming’s Dismally Ill-Prepared TV Pub Quiz, likely still hobbling to a venue near you.

A new series of Into the Archives is coming soon. The search for Peter’s programmes continues…
